CAT stands for Common Admission Test. It is a well-known all India management entrance exam, which is conducted by IIMs. A large number of applicants appear for this competitive examination in order to get admission in post graduate courses and fellow programs in management courses that are offered by the leading management institutes including IIMs. The CAT scores are considered by more than 100 B-schools. Based on the CAT percentile score, candidates are shortlisted for Written Aptitude Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). - Through the vocabulary test, the applicants’ knowledge in determining the primary meanings of words, secondary shades of meaning, idioms and phrase and knowledge synonyms and antonyms are gauged.
- Through grammar test: the candidates’ proficiency in identifying the correct grammatical errors is evaluated. The CAT exam test the high school level grammar of candidates, which includes subject-verb agreement, phrasal verbs, use of modifiers, prepositions, use of articles, redundancy, etc.
- Through the verbal reasoning test, the applicants’ proficiency in determining the relationship or patterns within groups of words or sentences is also evaluated.
