Stuttering is a communication disorder in which the flow of speech is broken by repetitions, or delay of sounds. Stuttering is also known as stammering. This communication disorder affects the child by language mutation or a voice mutation that results in child’s education performance. About 5 percent of all children have this communication disorder which may last for 6 months, 1 percent of the children have this communication disorder which may continue till death. This communication disorder affects the children usually between the ages of 3 to 7 years of age. Most of the stuttering disorder is seen in boys than in girls.

Stuttering is a communication disorder which affects only small percentage of a people in the world .Children with this disordered can be easily cured by allowing child to talk slowly, clearly, always encouraging the child to give a speech and by helping them to face problem or fear of speaking.

- Genetics: Stuttering can also be caused by the inherited genes.
- Child development.
- Stuttering even occurs after some injury to the area of brain. It may be either a brain injury or a brain stroke.
- Stuttering can also be caused by the malfunctioning of the muscles and other nervous systems.
- Stress can also be a big factor for stuttering.
- Irregular breathing.
- Repetitions of words.
- Struggling to speak.
- Long pauses.
- Changing words and sounds.
- Blinking of eye when speaking.
- Holding the voice for longer time with a fear.
- Blocks: The flow of air or sound stops in the throat, so the blocks appear while speaking.
- Children who have difficulty in producing sound.
- Children who have a low voice or no of fluency during speech.
- Children who have fearful of speaking in front of groups, or reading aloud.
Diagnosis / Treatments:
- There is no actual treatment for this disorder.
- The diagnosis of stutter involves the examination of child performance in speech, hearing test, pronunciation of specific words, etc.
- Speech therapy is a medical test provided for those children with the communication disorder.
